Trout Creek Trigger Graph!

With the raising of Thirsk dam, there is a Trigger Graph! The new full storage level is approximately 2872 ML higher than the old. Of that volume, approximately 533 ML of this is committed to increased fish flow as a result of the 2005 Trout Creek Water Use Plan Agreement. That leaves 2339 ML for Summerland to meet the possibility of increasing water demand due to climate change, restoration of idle agricultural land to production, and community growth.

We have gone into advanced water restrictions several times in the past few years due to water shortages. Now and for the next few years we expect to remain in Stage 1. The Stage 1 restrictions will remain in effect regardless of the abundance of water because it helps to keep down the costs of water treatment.
